==Plot== | |||
It's 1963 and most cartoon studios have closed down, including Maroon Cartoons. The out of work Roger Rabbit receives a package mailed by an infamous film organisation. In there he receives a gun which is said to be a prop and a letter saying to come to the Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas at 12:30pm on the 22nd of November to audition for a role as a gangster in a movie.
Roger brings Benny the Cab as hire car and the two takes a plane to Dallas and arrives at the Dealy Plaza at the exact time. He enters the building with the gun but finds no-one is there. He then hears six gunshots and runs outside to see what the noise is and finds people panicking, running and screaming and that President John F. Kennedy has been assassinated. As he runs out he is holding the gun and the police immediately arrest him thinking he is the culprit as well as Lee Harvey Oswald. At the police station Roger is then interrogated. Roger tries to explain that it was only a prop gun but when examined closely it is found to be real with several bullets missing, Roger is then put in jail. The police believe Roger may be a Russian spy since he had been falsely accused of being a communist during the McCarthy Era due to his red pants. Whilst in prison Roger is requests two calls, first he call's Jessica to explain what happened and get Eddie for help, Secondly he calls Benny and yells "Get me out of here!", Benny immediately comes crashing through the wall and makes a heroic escape.
The next day Jessica turns to Eddie Valiant. She tries to hire him to clear Roger's name but Eddie refuses because he is retired from being a detective and is too old to fight crime. However Jessica persuades him to help her by saying, ''"It's what Teddy would’ve wanted"''. Eddie then reluctantly agrees to help her free of charge but hires a young detective to help him with the crime fighting that he can no-longer achieve. He looks in the telephone book and finds a detective company called "Buck Stone's Detective Agency" headed by Buck Stone and Eddie hires him over the phone for his tough sounding name.
Whilst Eddie's on the phone Jessica finds a box with a diamond ring inside and asks what it’s for. After several attempts to try to deny it he said that it's a proposal ring for Dolores. He bought it in Hawaii on a vacation in 1948 but never had the courage to propose. Jessica then tries to help him to propose, but Eddie says he does not want to propose anymore.
Buck Stone then walks in, but turns out to be a pacifist hippie. Eddie wants to get rid of him immediately but Dick refuses and says he loved President Kennedy, wants to help and doesn’t give out refunds.
In the middle of the night Jessica, Eddie and Buck travel to Dallas book into a hotel. Eddie goes to the police station whist Buck look’s for Roger. When Eddie arrives he knocks out a two police officers and he dress in the police officers' uniform and sneaks in to interrogate prime suspect Lee Harvey Oswald. He says that he was innocent and did not kill Kennedy. He does say however that he is a Marxist (but not a communist) who lived in the Soviet Union as a Marine in 1959-1962. During the Cuban Missile crisis however he found he did not agree with Russia's political views and preferred Cuba's instead and moved back to the states. When he heard President Kennedy was going to invade Cuba he began to detest Kennedy handing out flyers saying 'HANDS OF CUBA', but never intended on killing Kennedy, however but he had been working on for the Cuban exiles. When Eddie asks about a picture of him with a rifle he claims it is not him. Eddie then leaves the police station. Meanwhile Buck find’s Roger and Benny and tells and they sneak back to the hotel and meet Eddie. They examine the evidence and the photo. Jessica then realises that Oswald was right and that the lighting on Oswald’s head looks like it was taken in the early morning whilst the rest of the body looks like it was taken in the late afternoon. They then find that it was the Oswald’s head had been pasted on top of someone else’s body. They peal the head off to find it is someone else’s face although they don’t know who it is. Roger then notifies Eddie that about the logo on the box at the package he received the gun. They look it up in the phone book and find it is almost identical to the one of a nightclub nearby run by Jack Ruby.
That same day Lee Harvy Oswald is killed Jack Rudy. Roger, Jessica, Eddie, Buck and Benny have to find the will and clear Roger's name whilst avioding the police as well as Jack Rudy, the Mafia, the CIA, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, Lyndon B. Johnson, and varioius other enemy's.
