Br'er Bear
Br'er Bear is a character from the 1946 Disney film Song of the South. He appears as a cameo in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Role in film
Br'er Bear first appears walking outside of the Maroon Cartoon Studio building. He later appears as a cameo at the end of the movie with a group of toons talking about what Judge Doom wasn’t, and cheering about Marvin Acme’s Will.
Around the 73min mark of the film, while Eddie is in Toontown a poster for "Brér Baer" appears in an alley in Toontown rather than depicting Br'er Bear it depicts a bear-like character with glasses, a likely refers to Dale L. Baer, an acclaimed character animator at Walt Disney Animation Studio who founded name "Baer Animation Studio" with then wife Jane Baer. Baer was the animation supervisor for the Los Angeles unit on Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He and Jane headed up the team responsible for animating the Toontown and Benny the Cab sequences. There was some behind the scenes tensions surrounding the allocation of this work and the film meeting deadlines, and the principle animation was done out of Richard Williams' London studio. Neither Baer Animation as a company nor the animators were not listed as a unit in the films credits, rather being listed as 'Additional Animation', and subsequently a number of easter eggs like this, added in by the animators, appear throughout the film.
